In Loving Memory of "Fergie"
Princess Ferguson
January 7, 2012 – March 7, 2026
After 14 years of wagging tails, gentle cuddles, and an unwavering love for every person she met, our beloved Fergie—officially known as Princess Ferguson—passed away on March 7, 2026.
Born at the start of 2012, Fergie was a dog of many talents. In her younger years, she was a force to be reckoned with in the field. An avid pheasant hunter, she earned her Junior Hunter title with grace and instinct. But her love for the hunt wasn't limited to birds; she had a legendary passion for the water and a particular, quirky fascination with hunting frogs. Even in her final photos, she can be seen perfectly on point for a frog, a testament to her spirit and focus.
However, Fergie’s true "career" was as a professional lover of people. She was the furthest thing from a guard dog; she greeted everyone she met with a heart wide open, firmly believing that every human on this planet was put here for the sole purpose of petting her.
She possessed an intuitive soul, always sensing exactly when her mama needed comfort. Without fail, she would oblige with the perfect cuddle, offering a quiet strength that only a best friend can provide.
Even in her final months, as she faced significant health challenges, Fergie’s sweetness never wavered. She became a celebrity at her vet’s office; during her frequent visits, the technicians would flock to the lobby just to spend a moment with her. Her gentle nature left an impression on everyone who cared for her.
Fergie was more than a dog; she was a once-in-a-lifetime companion. While the house is much quieter now, and the fields and ponds feel empty without her, her legacy of kindness lives on in the hearts of those who loved her.
There will never be another Fergie.
Fergie's family is being cared for by the Avink, McCowen & Secord Funeral Homes and Cremation Society, 129 South Grand Street, Schoolcraft, MI 49087. (269) 679-5622.
